33182726 Primitive Cat/Kitty Nolan A Primitive Wood Cabinet for ChristmasNolan laid down the hammer he had used for the past two hours, carefully nailing together old barn boards he had cut in proper lengths for the primitive cupboard he was working on for his wife Jenna. It would be a Christmas gift to her when at last he managed to complete it. Jenna thought he had gone to watch a friend\’s basketball game on this particular evening when in truth he was trying to put in extra time at his mother\’s place. The barn on her property was his whenever he wished to use it and it was here that he had secreted away the woodworking project. His day job was consuming a lot of extra time, far more than usual. He had miscalculated just how many hours this project was going to require. Thankfully he had started early. By day he worked in a hospital. Cutbacks in staffing had him working far more hours than he had anticipated. But these days he was glad he had a decent job. Still, it had been a hard year financially. He and Jenna had cut back wherever they could. It seemed there were always things that broke around the house that ate up any extra savings they managed to put aside. And this year he wanted to do something very special for his sweet wife. For a long time she had gazed longingly at an antique cabinet at Furlman\’s Antique Store. It had a huge price tag, but oh, it was lovely! It was primitive, worn from many years of service with paint that was almost, but not quite, deep green. It had a bluish cast to it. When it came time to paint this one he would have to mix his own paint to try and get just the right blend. The old tin doors had been difficult to replicate but he was able to devise an aging method for the sheets of tin he purchased at the hardware store. he had copied the punched pattern almost perfectly. He switched on the overhead light as the large work area was growing dim with evening shadows. Oh, how he wished he could stay longer to continue the work. but he would wipe down the boards with a preliminary coat of sealer before he left tonight. He had one more thing to do before he left. He sat in the rickety old chair used by his father for the very same thing he was about to do. He had seen him many times with his hands folded, talking softly to someone unseen. His father had been praying aloud as though he was talking to a dear friend. That\’s what Nolan was going to do now. He had a few things he needed to give thanks for and this was the perfect time. \”…O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.\” – Psalm 30:12Nolan is made from vintage fabric and is 12\” tall. He has a wooley nose and a cheerful holiday bow.
